Music Maze is an exciting series of fun, creative, participatory workshops for children age 8 – 11 inclusive organised and run by Birmingham Contemporary Music Group. There will be eight workshops from September 2013 to June 2014. The workshops take place at the CBSO Centre and are led by BCMG Director of Learning & Participation Nancy Evans, composer Liz Johnson and BCMG musicians. Most workshops are linked to performances by BCMG.
April’s Music Maze will take as its starting point a new piece of music by BCMG apprentice composer in residence, Shiori Usui, inspired by the BBC programme Blue Planet. Workshop participants will create new music about the deep sea and the strange and beautiful creatures that live there.
Young people do not need to be able to play a musical instrument in order to take part.
Music Maze participants are entitled to a free ticket and a concessionary ticket for an accompanying adult to the BCMG concert on Sunday 27 April 2014 which will feature Shiori’s new piece.
Places are free but must be booked in advance using the Ticket Info tab. Booking is now open.
