The Zigzag Ensemble is an exciting creative ensemble for 12-18 year olds who play a musical instrument and read a little bit of music notation. The workshops are led by Ben Markland alongside BCMG musicians. In each workshop participants create pieces from scratch inspired by music featured in upcoming BCMG concerts. At the end of the workshop there is a performance for parents and friends. BCMG welcomes young musicians from different musical traditions.
All workshops are completely free but we do ask that you book a place in advance as places are limited. Booking remains open throughout the year and you can find out when the workshops are by clicking here.
I like the fact that we can put our own input into the pieces.
I’d normally do more formal playing, but Zigzag has shown me how to enjoy playing the violin more creatively.
Zigzag Ensemble participants
[Zigzag Ensemble] allows children of all abilities, all walks of life, to come together to make art and experience musical art.
A chance for my daughters to meet other youngsters who are enthusiastic about music, and to work with “real” professional musicians, and I love their smiles when they come home!
From 2015-16, participants will be able to work towards Arts Award Bronze through our workshops. Click here for more information on Arts Award.
